Sometimes, arguments can escalate quickly between two people. Although many arguments cause little more than raised voices, some people take things too far and attack the person with whom they are arguing. Such seems to be the case in a recent incident in Winston-Salem, in which one man allegedly attacked another, causing him critical injuries in the process.
Details concerning argument and attack
The altercation occurred around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, a man, 30, was arguing with an older gentleman, 73. The argument apparently took place in the older man’s driveway. For reasons unknown, the 30-year-old man reportedly struck the 73-year-old, knocking him to the ground.
The fall caused the older man to strike his head on the concrete driveway. As a result, he suffered injuries described as critical and was taken to a local medical center for treatment. The 30-year-old alleged assailant reportedly drove away from the scene. Authorities apprehended him some time later, and he now faces charges for assault inflicting serious bodily injury. He was being held on a secured bond of $200,000.
Right to defense
Although the evidence against the man appears strong, he is innocent in the eyes of the law unless and until convicted in court on formal charges. As such, he will want to work closely with an experienced criminal defense attorney to help him fight the charges he is facing. A lawyer will analyze all aspects of the alleged assault and evidence against the suspect and work to achieve the best outcome possible for the client, considering the circumstances.
